What do we do about AI in education?

Last night, I joined a fascinating group of humans across the educational and training spectrum for an insightful discussion on AI and learning.
They talked, I listened, and these are my takeaways:

  • Be purposeful about where we want AI to help with learning
  • Empower students to use AI responsibly
  • Assessment needs to be reviewed to account for the use of AI

From the evidence I heard, there appeared to be three lines of thought to AI within education and training.

  • I know enough
  • I’m not interested
  • I’m overwhelmed

And some big questions that need to be discussed further.

  • Who is AI failing?
  • What is the correct relationship between the human and the AI?
  • How to articulate the value of human thinking?

Thanks to Unthinkable, EDUCATE Ventures Research and the National Portrait Gallery for a great evening.
