On my mind this week, 24 October 22

Five things that I've been thinking about this week.

1. Dyslexia

Dyslexia Awareness Week helped highlight and reflect on the barriers that those living with dyslexia often face. I struggled with and subsequently hated reading and writing during my school years. As an adult, that struggle continued. A few years ago, I discovered that I am mildly dyslexic. I’ve worked hard to understand how this affects me, which has resulted in me reading more books and writing more since that discovery than in all previous years combined. I now love both activities.

2. Wildlife Photography

Not a genre I mainly follow. However, I’m always interested in the winning images from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, run by the Natural History Museum in London.

3. Local adventure

I took a short cycle ride around my local area. This 30km loop took in parks, bridleways, the Thames path and the streets of SE London. It’s amazing what little adventures are on your doorstep. Get outside and enjoy discovering what’s around you.

4. Oil In The Blood

I finally got around to watching the 2019 documentary Oil In The Blood, a full-length feature film on contemporary custom motorcycle culture. As it says on the poster, this is not a film about motorcycles; it’s about motorcycle people. Watching this film has kick-started me to get back out in the garage.

5. Creative Resources

While stumbling around the internet, I discovered this list of creative resources from Booooooom. Some are super useful, others less so. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration within the list.
