Judging books by their covers… April 2024

Book and magazine cover designs are an essential aspect of the publishing industry. They are usually the first thing that catches a reader's eye, and often, can make or break a book's success. A great cover design not only reflects the content of the book or magazine but also appeals to the target audience.

It’s the end of the month already, and I’ve amassed a fair collection of covers. Looking at them all laid out, I can see another theme of warm colours flowing through most of the covers. Maybe it is due to the onset of spring in the northern hemisphere or just coincidence; who knows?

This month’s list includes

The Hive and the Honey, Paul Yoon. Design by Craig Fraser
Durable Goods, James Pollock. Design by David Drummond
Cahokia Jazz, Francis Spufford. Design by Henry Petrides
Brumby Innes and Bid Me To Love, Katharine Susannah Prichard. Design by Lisa White
All Over the Map, Michael Sorkin. Design by Dan Mogford
