Great Examples of Responsive Website Design

It’s now more important then ever that your sites work across many different devices, from smart-phones with screen as narrow as 240 pixels wide, to computer monitors that are 1920 pixels or larger. How do you achieve this nirvana of a design that works across all these different sized devices? You could create a different build for each device type, which would incur extra costs and an even longer time frame, or you could build one site using the responsive [adaptive] design techniques such as; fluid grids, flexible images, and media queries.

Drupal 7 Launch

Over two years in the making, with over 1000 contributors, Drupal 7 will be officially released on the 7th of January 2011. This is a big achievement and to celebrate the Drupal community are planning hundreds of launch parties in cities all around the World. All of us from i-KOS will be joining in with the celebrations at the London Launch party hosted by Microsoft. While mooching around the sales I visited Muji and discovered this little delight. Although not strictly designed for wireframe sketching it’s perfect for those initial quick scamps. The 4 boxes on each page are just the right proportions to scamp out ideas without getting bogged down with details. read more…

It’s survey time of year

Each year the folk at A List Apart run their Web Design Survey. Now there’s no competition to win any shiny prizes, but that doesn’t stop over 30,000 people responding to it. It’s the only survey of it’s type in our industry and helps to give a great overview of the health of it. If you can make a spare 5-6 minutes, why not fill it out, I did.
